VANDERBILT NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Vanderbilt (45-6) is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s NCAA Division I baseball poll for the third straight week after winning 12 consecutive games and 26 of its last 28.
Over the past weekend, Vanderbilt swept a 3-game series at Kentucky. The Commodores have won the Southeastern Conference regular season title with a superb 24-2 record and are only one win shy of South Carolina’s SEC record 25 league wins.
Poll Notes: Several other teams have been hot. Oregon St. and Louisville have each won 12 in a row, Western Carolina 9 straight and Clemson 7 consecutive. In key series over the past weekend, Louisiana St. won two of three at Texas A&M, Oregon St. swept a 3-game set at Stanford, N.C. State and Florida State split the first two games of a 3-game series, UCLA swept a 3-game series at home against Arizona, Oklahoma St. took two of three from Oklahoma, Seton Hall swept three from South Florida, U.C. Irvine won two of three from Cal. Poly and Mississippi took two of three from Mississippi St.
Five teams fell out of the top 30 in Stanford (0-4 last week), South Florida (1-3), Cal. Poly (2-2), Troy (2-2), and Rice (2-2). New to the poll is Seton Hall, U.C. Irvine, Oklahoma St., Western Carolina and Coastal Carolina.
The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.

LOUISVILLE SLUGGER NATIONAL PLAYERS OF WEEK
• RHP Casey Delgado, Austin Peay State: Delgado struck out a school record 16 batters during a 5-1 win over Tennessee-Martin. The 16 strikeouts are the most in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. He allowed two hits and a run in the first inning. But after a second inning single, he retired the final 22 batters of the contest. Delgado didn’t walk a batter and struck out two batters in every inning except the sixth when he retired the side on six pitches.
• OF Tyler Horan, Virginia Tech.: Horan belted 4 home runs, 3 doubles and collected 9 RBI over three games last week as he went 7-for-13 with 4 runs scored.
• LHP Harrison Musgrave, West Virginia: Musgrave led the Mountaineers to a 2-0 win over Texas Christian with a complete game shutout as he struck out a career-high 14 with only one walk. At one point, he retired 15 consecutive batters during the 143-pitch effort.
• LF D.J. Stewart, Florida St.: Stewart delivered 9 RBI over four games last week as he collected 5 doubles and scored 9 runs as he went 9-for-15 at the plate.
