NORTH CAROLINA NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of North Carolina (18-1) is ranked No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s NCAA Division I baseball poll.
The Tar Heels won two of three against Miami (Fla.) over the past weekend and sit at 5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. North Carolina’s pitching staff has a 1.92 ERA and has struck out 160 batters over 19 games. On offense, the Tar Heels are averaging 9.2 runs per game.
Poll Notes: Several teams have been hot lately, including California (8 straight wins), Louisville (7 wins in a row) and Oklahoma St. (6 consecutive victories). In key series over the past weekend, Oregon St. swept a 3-game series at Arizona, Louisiana St. took two of three at Mississippi St., Mississippi won two of three at Arkansas, Kentucky won two of three at Florida, Virginia won two of three at Clemson, Washington St. won two of three at Arizona St., Notre Dame beat Cal Poly two of three on the road, and New Mexico beat Nevada-Las Vegas two of three.

| • | RHP Pat Young, Villanova: Young struck out a career-high 18 batters over seven scoreless innings against ChicagoState. His strikeout total is the most in a single game by any NCAA Division I pitcher over the last two seasons. He struck out the side in six different innings (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th) and did not walk a batter. |

RHP Nick Rossmiller, Thiel: Rossmiller fired the first perfect game in Thiel history during a 14-0 win over Hiram. He struck out six batters over nine innings and fired 82 strikes in 106 pitches. It was the 16th perfect game in NCAA Division III history. |

1B Mason Katz, Louisiana St.: Katz collected 4 home runs and 8 RBI over four games last week as he went 6-for-13.
