ST MARY’S NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — With a perfect 32-0 record, St. Mary’s Prep (Orchard Lake, MI) remains No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball’s National High School Poll powered by Diamond Pro.

The Eaglets have 5 regular season games to go before beginning the Michigan state championship tournament. Dating back to last season, they have won 54 games in a row.

Pitcher Brock Porter threw a complete game no-hitter against Detroit Catholic Central, winning 4-0 and striking out 16 batters.

Eaglet pitchers have tossed 14 shutouts this season.

No. 2 Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, FL) finished the season as Florida’s 7A champions after beating Palm Beach Gardens (FL), 10-0 in 5 innings and posting a 30-2 record.

Chris Arroyo pitched all five innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 7. He hit a 3-run walk-off homer to end the game. Jack Clemente also belted a home run.

It is the second consecutive state title for the Eagles.

No. 3 Sumrall (MS) is headed into the 4A state championship game against Pontotoc (MS). The Bobcats (33-1) punched their ticket to the title game after defeated Northeast Jones (Laurel, MS) 3-2 and 6-2.

No. 4 Providence (Charlotte, NC) heads into the Western Regional Finals with a 30-0 record and will face TC Roberson.

Eli Jerzembeck has led the way on the mound. In Round 1 of the tournament, he beat Southeast Guilford, 11-1, and struck out 14. In Round 3, he defeated South Mecklenburg, 9-1, and tallied 18 strikeouts.

No. 5 North Oconee (Bogart, GA) captured the Georgia 4A title by beating LaGrange, 3-2 and 9-5 and posting a 39-1 overall record.

In the second game, the Titans took the lead in the top of the fifth and added three more runs in the top of the seventh. Gavin Black was dominate, winning two games, throwing 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing no hits, striking out 4, hitting a double and scoring 2 runs in the championship series.

No. 6 Northwest Rankin (Brandon, MS) won the South State championship for the second consecutive year and has a 32-2 record.

The team is riding a 23-game win streak. They defeated Brandon, 12-7 and 7-6 in the semi-finals to advance to play DeSoto Central for the Mississippi 6A state title.

Over the last four games of the tournament, top hitters include Nick Monistere (.533, 1 HR, 7 RBI), Brady Thomas (.500, 4 RBI) and Brice Ainsworth (.455, 3 RBI).

No. 7 Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL) advanced to the Florida 3A state semi-finals where they will meet The Villages Charter.

Previously they beat Lakeland Christian, 8-5, Calvary Christian (Clearwater), 4-1 and Cardinal Mooney, 6-2 to move to the Final Four. They have a 27-3 record.

No. 8 Rockwall-Heath (Rockwall, TX) is in the regional finals of the Texas 6A playoffs and will face Oak Ridge for a three-game series. They are 28-5.

The Hawks previously beat Naaman Forest, 5-1 and then defeated Lake Ridge 2-of-3 and Garland 10-1 and 20-1.

No. 9 W.B. Ray (Corpus Christi, TX) is in the Texas 5A regional semi-finals and will be facing Georgetown. They are 34-4.

Previously the Texans lost to Rowe, 4-3 but came back to win 8-0 and 9-6 and beat Veterans Memorial 8-0 and 7-6 and Laredo Martin, 6-0 and 2-0 to advance in the tournament.

No. 10 Hamilton (Chandler, AZ) won the Arizona 6A state title after beating Chaparral (Scottsdale, AZ), 11-1 in the final game. They finished 29-4.

The Huskies were originally eliminated in the tournament after being beaten by Queen Creek, 2-1. However, Queen Creek was found to have used an illegal pitcher and had to forfeit the game which allowed Hamilton to continue in the tournament.

No. 11 Legacy (Broomfield, CO) completed its regular season with a 21-2 record. They will meet ThunderRidge (Highlands Ranch, CO) next in the District/Regional baseball tournament.

No. 12 Hanover (Mechanicsville, VA) completed its regular season 17-2 and now will play in the regional tournament.

No. 13 Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, OH) has a 7-game winning streak and posted a 25-2 record. They defeated Colerain, 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs.

Earlier Max Tramontana threw his second no-hitter of the season in a 6-0 win over Fenwick.

Entering the poll at No. 14 is George Washington (New York, NY) with a 26-3 record. They finished the regular season and will begin the PSAL playoffs next.

The team has outscored opponents 328-49 in an all-wood bat league. Batters have hit .363 and pitchers have held opposing teams to a .136 batting average.

Top hitters for George Washington include Gregory Melo (.595, 45 RBI), Ramon Jimenez (.479, 47 RBI) and Nicolas Nunez-Cabrera (.408, 7 HR, 42 RBI).

The pitching staff is led by Elvis Garcia (8-0, 1.65 ERA, 77 K) and Leonardo Espinal (5-0, 1.41 ERA).

No. 15 Doral Academy (Doral, FL) defeated Pace, 5-4 to capture the program’s first Florida 6A state title. The Firebirds posted a 26-4-1 final record and had a 16-game win streak to finish out the season.

Frank Menendez was the winning pitcher in the game, tossing a two-hit game through five innings. Michael Torres recorded a save.

No. 16 West Monroe (LA) beat St. Amant, 9-6 to capture the Louisiana 5A state championship and finish with a 33-4 record. Caleb Ross hit a grand slam to secure the title win.

No. 17 JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, CA) won the CIF Division 1 Southern Section championships after defeating Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), 3-1.

Earlier the Lions knocked out Villa Park with a 4-1 win in the semi-finals. David Horn had a stellar day, going six innings and giving up five hits, one run and striking out six. They finished with a 23-10 record.

No. 18 Carlsbad (NM) won the New Mexico 5A state title with a 7-0 victory over Sandia. It was the program’s 12th state title and first since 2016. The Cavemen finished with a 27-4 record.

Grant Harvill allowed two hits, three walks and struck out 11 over 7 innings.

No. 19 Orange Lutheran (Orange, CA) dropped in the poll after getting knocked out of the CIF Division 1 Southern Section playoffs by Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), 5-4. The Lancers’ season ended with a 25-5 record.

No. 20 Calvary Christian (Clearwater, FL) lost 4-1 to Berkeley Prep to get knocked out of the Florida 3A state tournament. They have a 26-2 record.

No. 21 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) were the runners-up in the Nevada 5A state championships after losing to Basic, 16-7. The Gaels finished, 35-6.

No. 22 Blythewood (SC) finished as the runners-up in the 5A Upper State championships. They lost to Fort Mill, 2-1 and finished with a 30-3 record.

No. 23 Tompkins (Katy, TX) lost in the regional quarterfinals of the Texas 6A playoffs to Ridge Point, 2-1 and 9-7. The Falcons finished the season 29-4.

No. 24 Barbe (Lake Charles, LA) was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Louisiana 5A state playoffs and finished with a 36-4 record.

No. 25 The First Academy (Orlando, FL) lost 9-1 to Cardinal Newman in the regional finals of the Florida 3A state playoff. They are 26-4.

No. 26 American Heritage (Plantation, FL) also fell in the poll after losing 4-2 to Naples in the regionals of Florida 5A baseball tournament. They are 26-2.

No. 27 Villa Park (CA) dropped in the poll after losing 4-1 to JSerra Catholic in the CIF Division 1 Southern Section baseball championships. They have a 27-5 record.

No. 28 Reno (NV) ended its season with a 31-5 record. They lost to Bishop Gorman, 12-11 in 13 innings to get knocked out of the Nevada 5A tournament.

Reno did win its third consecutive regional championship with a 3-1 win over Bishop Manogue.

No. 29 Allatoona (Acworth, GA) lost twice to Pope (Marietta, GA), 10-0 and 9-2 to become runners-up in the Georgia 6A tournament. They have a 35-6 record.

No. 30 Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, AL) played Central Phenix City in three-game series for the state title. They won the first game 6-0, lost the second game, 8-5 and third game, 3-0 to be the 7A state runners-up. The final record is 31-6-1.

Riley Quick threw a 3-hit 4-0 shutout over Vestavia in the semi-finals and recorded 13 strikeouts. He threw another 6-0 shutout against Central Phenix City in the final tournament series.

Teams that fell out of the top 30 include Central Martinsburg (PA), Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA), Edwardsville (IL), Buchanan (Clovis, CA), and Nixa (MO).
