TENNESSEE NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tennessee (56-7) is ranked No. 1 for the 10th time this season in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.

The Volunteers have won 11 straight and captured the Knoxville Regional with a 3-0 record.

Tennessee is ranked No. 1 in 10 NCAA Div. I statistical categories, including walks (371), ERA (2.38), hits allowed per 9 innings (6.34), home runs (150), home runs per game (2.38), runs (592), slugging percentage (.607), WHIP (0.98), win-loss percentage (.889) and walks allowed per 9 innings (2.50).

Nine Volunteer hitters have 11 or more homers on the season.

Poll Notes: All 16 teams that advanced to the Super Regionals are ranked in the top 16. Seven of the 16 (Tennessee, Virginia Tech., Texas A&M, Mississippi, Texas, Auburn and Notre Dame) went through their Regionals unbeaten.

Four teams fell out of the top 30 in Oregon (1-2), Virginia (1-2), Georgia (1-2) and Georgia Southern (1-2).

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season.
