TENNESSEE NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Tennessee (37-3) is ranked No. 1 for the fifth straight Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Volunteers, winners of six straight, lead the Southeastern Conference with a 17-1 record. Over the past weekend, Tennessee swept a 3-game series at Florida.
The Volunteers have an offensive juggernaut with a nation-leading 93 home runs and have also hit 100 doubles while averaging 9.4 runs per game.
The pitching staff leads the nation with a 2.03 ERA. The staff has fanned 449 batters with 90 walks.
Poll Notes: In key series over the weekend, Texas A&M took two of three at home against Arkansas, TCU won two of three at home against Oklahoma St., Oregon lost two of three at home against Washington St., Louisville won two of three at home against N.C. State, Virginia swept a 3-game series at home against North Carolina, Texas swept three at home against Baylor, Arizona won two of three at home against Arizona St., Georgia took two of three at Alabama and Auburn swept a 3-game series at home against South Carolina.
Several teams have been hot. Central Michigan has won 18 in a row, Southern Mississippi (14), Texas St. (9), Auburn (6), Notre Dame (5) and Virginia Tech. (5).
Three teams fell out of the top 30 in West Virginia (2-2 last week), Gonzaga (3-2), and Grand Canyon (2-2).

RHP Shemar Page, Grambling St.: Page fired a 7-inning perfect game during a 16-0 win over Alcorn St. He fanned 13 batters and threw only 84 pitches
RHP Jake Noviello, Fairfield: Noviello threw 7-inning perfect game as he retired all 21 batters during a 10-0 win over Saint Peter’s. He required only 71 pitches while striking out 4.
OF Ryan Guardino, Tennessee Tech.: Guardino made program history by hitting 7 home runs during a 3-game series at Tennessee-Martin. He was 10-for-17 at the plate as he recorded 11 RBI and scored 10 times.
3B Max Wagner, Clemson: Wagner had one of the best weeks in Clemson history as he belted 6 home runs, 1 double, 10 RBI and scored 8 runs as he went 8-for-19 over 5 games.
RHP Chris McElvain, Vanderbilt: McElvain pitched 7 innings of no-hit ball with 9 strikeouts against Kentucky during a 10-0 win. He combined with Christian Little, who threw the final two innings, to preserve the no-no.
LF Kendal Ewell, Eastern Kentucky: Ewell hit 5 home runs with 10 RBI and 9 runs scored over 4 games as he hit .722.
DH Tommy White, N.C. State: White hit 5 home runs with 8 RBI and scored 7 runs as he went 11-for-18 over 4 games. He also walked 4 times. He broke the freshman home run record with his 18th. On the season, he has 18 multi-hit games and five multi-homer games.
1B Ivan Melendez, Texas: Melendez belted 5 home runs with 11 RBI and collected at least one hit in all 5 games last week. During the weekend sweep of Baylor, he hit .600 with 4 homers and 10 RBI.
LHP Jacob Palisch, Texas A&M: Palisch posted 2 saves with 10 strikeouts over 6 innings against Arkansas. He worked in two high-pressure situations with the Aggies clinging to 1-run leads. In each game, Arkansas had the tying run at third and go-ahead run at second with no outs. But the Razorbacks were unable to score.
RHP Tanner Hall, Southern Mississippi: Hall struck out 13 batters over 8 innings during a 1-0 win against Rice. He fanned the first 7 batters to start the game.
1B Cade Sullivan, Western Michigan: Sullivan belted 4 homers with 3 doubles as he recorded 14 RBI and scored 8 runs in going 9-for-20.
OF Dakota Kotowski, Missouri St.: Kotowski swatted 4 home runs and drove in 9 runs with 19 total bases over 4 games.
1B Brennan Orf, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville: Orf hit 4 home runs with 2 doubles and 9 RBI as he went 11-for-14 over 4 games. He reached base 18 times in 21 plate appearances.
1B Logan Gallina, New Mexico St.: Gallina drove in 13 runs and homered 4 times over 4 games.
