LSU NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Louisiana St. (29-6) is ranked No. 1 for the 10th straight time in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
Over the past week, the Tigers beat Tulane on the road and took two of three from Kentucky at home.
LSU leads the nation averaging 10.4 runs per game and is No. 1 with a .456 team on-base percentage and No. 2 with a .587 slugging percentage.
In key series, Vanderbilt took two of three at home against South Carolina, Wake Forest won two of three at Louisville, Virginia lost two of three against Pittsburgh at home, Arkansas swept 3 from Tennessee at home, Stanford lost two of three at Oregon, Miami (Fla.) won 2 of 3 at North Carolina and Ball St. lost three straight at Central Michigan.
Poll Notes: Several teams are on impressive winning streaks, including Indiana St. (10), Dallas Baptist (10), East Carolina (8), Kent St. (7) and Oral Roberts (7).
Eight teams fell out of the top 30 in Oklahoma St. (1-3 last week), Tennessee (1-3), Southern California (1-3), Florida Gulf Coast (1-3), Ball St. (lost 5 in row), U.C. San Diego (2-3), Louisiana-Lafayette (2-3) and Xavier (2-2).
New to the poll is Indiana St. (22-12, 11-1 Missouri Valley – 1st), Indiana (25-11, 9-3 Big Ten – 1st), Kent St. (25-10, 12-3 Mid-American – 1st), Texas-San Antonio (28-8, 12-2 Conference USA – 1st), Dallas Baptist (27-9, 12-3 Conference USA – 2nd), Central Michigan (21-13, 10-5 Mid-American – T-3rd), Connecticut (26-9, 4-2 Big East – T1), Oral Roberts (27-10, 12-0 Summit – 1st).
