LSU NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Louisiana St. (26-5) is ranked No. 1 for the ninth straight time in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
Last week the Tigers beat Nicholls at home and then split two games at South Carolina. The Tigers are 7-4 in the SEC West and are ranked second in the nation in runs per game (10.3) and on-base percentage (.450). LSU has belted 59 homers, 66 doubles and 10 triples.
In key series, Vanderbilt took two of three at Missouri, Wake Forest won two at home against N.C. State, Virginia swept 3 from Miami (Fla.) at home, Florida won two of three at Tennessee, Arkansas took two of three at Ole Miss., Kentucky lost two of three at Georgia, Louisville won three at home against Boston College, Stanford swept a 3-game series at California, U.C. Santa Barbara lost two of three at Cal. St. Fullerton, Oklahoma St. lost two of three at TCU, North Carolina won two of three at Georgia Tech., Arizona St. swept a 3-game series at home against Washington St. and Oregon lost two of three at home against Oregon St..
Poll Notes: Several teams are on impressive winning streaks, including Xavier (10), Louisiana-Lafayette (6) and Arizona St. (5 and won 11 of last 12).
Four teams fell out of the top 30 in Boston College (1-3 last week), Connecticut (2-2), West Virginia (2-2) and Old Dominion (1-2).
New to the poll is TCU (20-12, won 10 of last 13), Southern California (20-10-1, 9-3 Pac-12, won 4 in a row), Louisiana-Lafayette (23-9, 9-3 Sun Belt, won 6 in row) and Xavier (20-12, (3-0 Big East, won 10 in row).

1B/OF Brandon Pimentel, Texas Rio Grande Valley: Pimentel has homered in 5 straight games. Over 3 games last week, he was 7-for-16 with 3 homers, 1 double, 11 RBI and 6 runs scored.
RHP Jackson Baumeister, Florida St.: Baumeister struck out 14 Clemson batters over 7 innings and didn’t allow a run. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2.

2B Grady Mee, Western Michigan: Mee hit the first 3 homers of his career at Western Michigan with 7 RBI and 8 runs scored as he went 7-for-15.
