TUCSON, Ariz. — Louisiana St. (18-2) is ranked No. 1 for the sixth straight time in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
LSU beat New Orleans at home and knocked off Texas A&M two of three on the road last week.
The Tigers, winners of 13 of their last 14 games, are averaging 11.1 runs per game and have collected 86 extra base hits. This disciplined offense has walked 128 times and been hit by pitches 51 times. The defense has only made 7 errors in 20 games while the pitching staff has a 2.62 ERA with 216 strikeouts and 61 walks.
In key series over the weekend, Louisville beat Georgia Tech. two of three at home, Missouri swept a 3-game series at home against Tennessee, Virginia took two of three at N.C. State, Wake Forest beat Notre Dame two of three at home, Florida beat Alabama two of three at home, Arkansas swept a 3-game series at home against Auburn, Vanderbilt swept a 3-game series against Ole Miss at home, UCLA swept 3 from Arizona at home, South Carolina swept 3 at Georgia, Texas Tech. beat Oklahoma St. two of three at home, Stanford swept 3 at home against Oregon St., Washington St. lost two of three at home against Oregon, Kentucky won 3 straight against Mississippi St. and Boston College took two of three at Florida St.
Poll Notes: Several teams are on impressive winning streaks, including Kentucky (14), Arkansas (13), South Carolina (11) and U.C. Santa Barbara (10).
Five teams fell out of the top 30 in Washington St. (1-3 last week), Arizona (0-3), Oregon St. (1-4), Auburn (1-3) and Virginia Tech. (lost 5 in row).

2B Dylan Strickland, Georgia St.: Strickland belted 5 home runs with 10 RBI over 4 games last week as he went 7-for-12. His 5 home runs came in a span of 7 plate appearances over games 2 and 3 of the Troy series.
RHP Will Rigney, Baylor: Rigney fired 5 perfect innings across 2 outings as he struck out 11 of 15 batters he faced. In addition, he earned 2 wins. Rigney made a midweek start against Rice and went 2 innings with 5 strikeouts. Then in relief against Kansas St., he went 3 innings with 6 more strikeouts.
RF Matt Hogan, Oral Roberts: Hogan had a monster week as he produced 18 RBI and launched 3 homers, 1 double, 1 triple and scored 6 runs over 5 games as he went 11-for-20.
