TEXAS NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Texas (8-0) is ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Longhorn pitching staff, which has a microscopic 0.50 team ERA with 78 strikeouts and only 22 walks in eight games, has been ranked No. 1 for three straight polls. Of the eight games Texas has played, the pitching staff has allowed one or no runs in six contests.
Poll Notes: Several teams have been red-hot. Texas and N.C. State have won eight straight to start the season while Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon St., Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky are all undefeated at 7-0.
Stanford went 4-0 during the Round Rock Classic over the weekend as the Cardinal only allowed 1 run in four games as the pitching staff tossed 24 consecutive scoreless innings to finish the week. Stanford has posted 4 shutouts in its first seven games. The Cardinal capped the week with a 5-0 shutout over Arkansas.

C Kevin Parada, Georgia Tech.: Parada belted 5 home runs with 4 doubles, 12 hits and collected a gaudy 17 RBI over 5 games. He struck out just twice in 21 at-bats for a .591 on-base percentage and also stole two bases.
3B Jake Gelof, Virginia: Over 4 games, Gelof went 9-for-10 with 4 home runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 15 RBI. In the series finale against Cornell, he hit for the cycle in just 4 at-bats and 5 innings played. He became the first Cavalier to hit for the cycle in 21 years. In the opening game of the Cornell series, he smacked 2 homers and tallied 8 RBI — the most by a Cavalier since 2013.
1B Tommy White, N.C. State: White belted 4 home runs over 5 games as he went 11-for-20 with 11 runs scored and 17 RBI. On the season, he is hitting .588 with 9 homers and 29 RBI.
1B Hunter Dorraugh, San Jose St.: Dorraugh has hit home runs in six consecutive games. Last week over four games, he was 5-for-15 with 4 home runs, 1 double, 7 runs scored and 9 RBI.
LHP Chazz Martinez, Oklahoma: Martinez struck out 14 Northwestern State batters over 7 innings during a 5-1 win. At one point, he fanned six batters in a row. His 14 strikeouts were the most by a Sooner pitcher since Levi Prater had 15 against Missouri State in 2019
LHP Donovan Burke, James Madison: Burke struck out a career-high 13 Fairleigh Dickinson batters over 7 innings during a 4-0 win. He took a perfect game into the seventh inning and finished with just one hit.
RHP Blake Hely, Davidson: Hely fanned 14 Bryant batters over 8 innings and only allowed 2 hits during an 11-0 win.
LHP Parker Messick, Florida St.: Messick struck out a career-high 13 batters with no walks during a 7-0 win over Samford. He only allowed 1 hit.
RHP Patrick Pridgen, Florida International: Pridgen struck out 13 Seton Hall batters over 7 innings during a 1-0 win over Seton Hall.
RHP Matthew Sox, Utah: Sox took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against Fresno St. He finished with a 1-hitter in 8 1/3 innings and struck out 6.
3B Trey Lipscomb, Tennessee: Lipscomb has a monster week as he belted 3 homers, 3 doubles, 2 triples, scored 6 runs and recorded 16 RBI with 27 total bases over four games. During a win over Iona, he became just the fourth player in program history to hit for the cycle, going 5-for-5.
LF Jack Hurley, Virginia Tech.: Hurley went 9-for-10 in three games against Fordham with 3 homers, 3 doubles, 1 triple and 4 RBI. Seven of his nine hits went for extra bases. He reached base safely in 12 of his 13 plate appearances.
1B Sonny DiChiara, Auburn: DiChiara went 7-for-13 at the plate over 4 games and belted 3 homers, 3 doubles, scored 8 runs and delivered 7 RBI. At one point, he reached base in 11 of 12 plate appearances.
2B/SS Colby Halter, Florida: Halter belted 3 home runs with 2 doubles, 9 runs scored and 6 RBI over 5 games. He racked up 23 total bases on 12 hits as he hit .545 on the week. In 28 defensive chances at second base and shortstop, he didn’t commit an error.
