ST MARY’S H.S. NO. 1 IN CB’S PRE-SEASON POLL

 TUCSON, Ariz. — St. Mary’s Prep (Orchard Lake, MI) is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball’s 2022 Pre-Season National High School Poll presented by Diamond Pro.

The Eaglets return a powerful team that went 43-1 last season, were Michigan Division 2 state champions and finished No.1 in Collegiate Baseball’s final 2021 national poll.

It was their second consecutive Michigan state title as St. Mary’s ended the season with 22 straight victories. They will move to Division 1 this season.

The Eaglets finished with a .385 team batting average and averaged 11 runs a game (480 in 44 games).

St. Mary’s hit 59 homers, 78 doubles and 19 triples as the offense walked 258 times and was hit by 64 pitches for an on-base percentage of .513. St. Mary’s stole 95 of 105 bases.

The pitching staff had a 1.25 ERA and struck out 442 batters with 99 walks.

Seventeen players return with 12 NCAA Division I commits and 7 who were starters last season.

The team features a trio of Collegiate Baseball pre-season All-Americans.

  • RF Nolan Schubart (Michigan), SR, .407, 8 2B, 4 3B, 9 HR, 55 RBI, 56 R, Collegiate Baseball 2022 pre-season All-American.
  • C Ike Irish (Auburn), SR, .419, 12 2B, 1 3B, 12 HR, 53 RBI, 59 R
  • 3B Jack Crighton (Michigan), SR, .438, 9 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 38 RBI, 38 R
