N.C. STATE NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — N.C. State (27-2) is ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball NCAA Div. I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew.
At the top of the poll for the third straight week, the Wolfpack leads the nation in wins and is first in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 10-2 record. N.C. State beat Virginia two of three at home over the weekend.
No. 2 is Arizona St. (25-1), tied for the best start in school history after 26 games. The Sun Devils sit at 8-1 in the Pac-12 Conference after sweeping a 3-game series at home against Arizona.
Poll Notes: Several teams are red-hot. Stanford and East Carolina have won 9 in a row while Brigham Young and Ball St. have won eight straight. North Carolina has won six consecutive games.
In key matchups over the weekend, UCLA took two of three at Southern California, Louisiana St. took two of three at Mississippi St., Oregon St. swept a 3-game series at Washington, Coastal Carolina lost two of three at home to Arkansas St., Auburn won two of three at South Carolina, U.C. Santa Barbara won two of three at Cal. St. Fullerton, Florida swept a 3-game series against Alabama, North Carolina swept three from Duke and Texas Christian lost two of three at home to Oklahoma St.
Six teams fell out of the top 30 in Florida St. (1-3 last week), Illinois (4 straight losses), Oklahoma (1-3), Washington (4 straight losses), Southern Mississippi (2-2) and San Diego (1-3). New to the poll is Oklahoma St. (18-8, 5-1 in Big 12), Brigham Young (21-5, 7-2 West Coast), Texas (20-11), Ball St. (17-9), Arkansas St. (19-9, 7-2 Sun Belt) and Florida Atlantic (19-9, 8-1 Conference USA).

C/1B Christian Hodge, Navy: Over 6 games, Hodge belted 5 home runs with 16 RBI as he went 12-for-26 at the plate with 7 runs scored.
RF Jake Sanford, Western Kentucky: Sanford hit 5 home runs over 4 games and drove in 15 runs as he went 12-for-20 and scored 8 runs.

RF J.J. Bleday, Vanderbilt: Bleday became the first Commodore since Aaron Westlake in 2010 to homer in four straight games as he went 6-for-16 at the plate with 10 RBI and 6 runs scored.
1B Tido Robles, Azusa Pacific: Robles hit 4 home runs as he went 7-for-13 at the plate with 13 RBI, 7 runs scored and a double. In addition, he walked 6 times and was hit by pitches twice for a .714 on-base percentage.
OF Jabari Richards, Furman: Richards went 10-for-16 at the plate as he belted 3 home runs, including a grand slam, 2 doubles, 1 triple and drove in 11 RBI with 7 runs scored. If that wasn’t enough, he hit for the cycle against Gardner-Webb on the road which was the first by a Furman hitter since 2006.
