OREGON ST. NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Oregon St. (30-2, 14-1 Pac-12) is ranked No. 1 for the sixth straight week in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Beavers saw their 23-game winning streak snapped at Washington with a 3-2 loss in the opener of a 3-game series. Oregon St. bounced back to win the next two and take the series two games to one. OSU has won 25 of its last 26 games.
The Beavers continue to have a remarkable team ERA of 1.74 through 32 games as the staff has struck out 273 batters with 87 walks. The defense has only allowed 11 stolen bases all season.
Poll Notes: In key series over the past weekend, West Virginia took two of three at home against Texas Christian, Louisville swept a 3-game series at Georgia Tech., Clemson split its first two games at Florida St., North Carolina won two of three against N.C. State, Arizona took two of three against Oregon at home, Louisiana St. won two of three at home against Mississippi, Mississippi St. won two of three at South Carolina, Michigan swept a 3-game series at home against Oklahoma, Florida won two of three at Vanderbilt and Coastal Carolina won two of three at South Alabama.
Several teams have been red hot. McNeese St. has won seven straight, Long Beach St. (8 of 9), Louisville (6), and Wake Forest (5).
Four teams fell out of the top 30, including Oklahoma (0-4 last week), Connecticut (0-4), Missouri St. (1-3), and Sam Houston St. (2-2). New to the top 30 are McNeese St. (26-9, 16-2 Southland), Long Beach St. (22-12 (7-2 Big West), West Virginia (21-13 (8-4 Big 12) and Tennessee Tech. (29-9, 16-2 Ohio Valley).

National Players Of The Week
- C Brock Weimer, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville: Weimer belted 6 home runs over 4 games last week and collected 12 RBI with 6 runs scored as he went 6-for-11 at the plate.
- RHP Reiss Knehr, Fordham: Knehr struck out 16 batters over 8 1/3 innings of work and allowed only one hit during a 5-0 win over Saint Joseph’s. The 16 strikeouts were the most by a Ram pitcher since the 1956 season.
- RHP Robert Garcia, Florida International: Garcia fanned 14 batters during a 3-1 win over Bethune-Cookman. He didn’t walk a batter and allowed only four hits.
- RF Trey Harris, Missouri: Harris had a monster week as he belted 5 home runs with 8 RBI as he went 6-for-19 at the plate. At one point during a 3-game series against Kentucky, Harris homered in four consecutive at bats.
- LHP/1B Brendan McKay, Louisville: McKay had another remarkable week at the plate and on the mount for the Cardinals. Against Georgia Tech., he allowed only one hit over eight innings with 8 strikeouts during a 3-0 win. Offensively, he was 7-for-13 with 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 6 runs scored over four games.
- RHP Kyle Wright, Vanderbilt: Wright struck out a career-high 13 batters during a complete game 2-0 win over Florida. He didn’t walk a batter and only allowed three hits.
- CF Stuart Fairchild, Wake Forest: Fairchild hit 4 home runs, 3 doubles and collected 14 RBI over 5 games as he went 11-for-22 at the plate. He now has reached base safely in 39 straight games dating back to the 2016 season.
