VANDERBILT NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Vanderbilt (39-6) is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s NCAA Division I baseball poll after winning six consecutive games and 20 of its last 22.
The Commodores, which swept a 3-game series from Mississippi St. and a single game against Louisville last week, are No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference with a 19-2 record. It is the best mark in SEC play through 21 games in school history. This is the first time this season Vanderbilt has been ranked No. 1.
The top two teams in the poll last week, North Carolina and Louisiana St., fell a spot after posting 2-2 records during the past rating period. North Carolina lost to N.C. Wilmington, beat Charlotte and then split two games with N.C. State. The Tar Heels are still No. 1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 19-3 record. LSU beat Tulane and then lost two of three at home to South Carolina. LSU is second in the SEC with a 16-5 record.
Poll Notes: Several other teams have been hot. New Mexico has won 10 straight while Indiana has won eight in a row. South Alabama has captured seven straight, Campbell six in a row while Oregon St., Oregon and Central Florida have each won five consecutive games. Three teams fell out of the top 30 in Georgia Tech. (lost six of last seven), Gonzaga (2-3 last week), and Houston (lost 4 straight). New to the poll is Indiana (34-8), South Alabama (34-12), and Central Florida (25-19, swept a 3-game series from Houston).
The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.

LOUISVILLE SLUGGER NATIONAL PLAYERS OF WEEK
• LHP Matt Florer, Loyola Marymount: Florer tossed the second no-hitter in school history during a 5-0 win over Cal. St. Northridge. His previous high for innings pitched was only five against Long Beach St. during the 2012 season. Florer, who went all nine innings, threw 134 pitches and struck out five.
• LHP Jason Inghram, William & Mary: Inghram struck out 15 batters during a 1-hitter against George Mason as he picked up a 7-1 win. He had a no-hitter with two outs left in the ninth before a hit was recorded. Inghram retired the side in order seven of the nine innings he worked.
• CF Tom Healy, Mount St. Mary’s: Healy was 13-for-16 over four games against Fairleigh Dickinson with a slugging percentage of 1.500. He collected 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 1 triple and 8 RBIs to go along with 8 runs scored. Healy is hitting .402 on the season.
• RHP Andrew Barnett, Gardner-Webb: Barnett struck out 14 batters with no walks over eight innings during a 5-1 win over N.C. Asheville. His strikeout total was two off the school single-game record.
