College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Friday (January 25, 2008) DON BOSCO PREP NO. 1 IN EASTON SPORTS COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER PRE-SEASON POLL TUCSON, Ariz. — After playing second fiddle to last year's top ranked Seton Hall Prep, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ) has been ranked No. 1 in the 2008 Easton Sports Pre-Season National High School baseball poll. For two straight years, Bosco (27-2) has been the Bergen County champions, and last year they were the NNJIL league champions, finishing No. 2 in the state behind Seton Hall Prep. This year, Bosco has all the horses to win not only a state title but a national championship. "This will be a very special year," said Coach Greg Butler. "We have a terrific group of kids that excel on and off the field. They have a great work ethic and a wonderful team chemistry." This team is deep as six seniors singed early at Division 1 programs and four others who may play in college next year. Four players have been getting serious attention from the pros. Anchoring the pitching staff is RHP Mike Dennhardt (9-0, 0.70 ERA), LHP Eric Pfisterer (6-0, 2.1 ERA), LHP Sam cerbo and RHP Mike O'Keefee. Top position players include 3B Steven Proscia (.510, 10 HR, 46 RBI), CF/2B Michael Vargas (.540 BA), and C Ben Luderer (.500 BA). They are joined by two juniors SS Anthony Gomez (.560 BA) and LF Brett Knief (.400 BA). "We are much deeper and stronger than any team I have been associated with over the past 20 years," Butler said.
