College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Wednesday (January 24, 2007) FLANAGAN H.S. NO. 1 IN EASTON SPORTS COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER PRE-SEASON POLL TUCSON, Ariz. — With back-to-back state championships already under their belts, Charles W. Flanagan H.S. (Pembroke Pines, FL) will start this season with a veteran team and the No.1 spot in the 2007 Easton Sports Pre-Season National High School Poll. Last year, Flanagan captured its second 6A state championship by defeating three of the state's top high school teams. They rolled past Palm Beach Gardens in the regional semi-finals, Palm Beach Central in the regional finals and defeated Sarasota, 7-1 for the title while posting a 29-3 overall record. Eight seniors and one junior are slated to make up the starting line up with four of those players having started all four years. Four players have already signed with NCAA Division I schools. Leading the pitching staff will be one of the nation's top left-handed tandems with senior DJ Swatscheno (9-2, 0.89 ERA, 131 K, 79 IP) and junior RJ Fondon. Headlining the offense will be 3B Rolando Gomez (.495, 16 2B, 3 3B, 11 HR, 45 RBI) and CF Chris Connelly (.353, 8 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 23 RBI).
