College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Saturday (April 22, 2006) NOVA H.S. NO. 1 IN EASTON SPORTS COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL TUCSON, Ariz. — Nova H.S. (Davie, Fla.) remains as the No. 1 team in the Easton National High School poll having completed its regular season with a 25-0 record. Florida high schools begin the district playoffs that lead to the state championships. The Titans are hoping to repeat their 5A state championship. The Woodlands (The Woodlands, Tex.) remains in the No. 2 spot. The Highlanders finished 15-0 in the Texas District 14-5A, capturing their fourth straight title. They remain the No. 1 team in Greater Houston and the state of Texas. Owasso (Owasso, Okla.) has moved to No. 3 and enters its regionals with a 28-1 regular season record. The Rams are poised to make another appearance in the state finals. They have been there in eight of the last nine years. No. 4 Bellefontaine (Bellefontaine, OH) continues to lead its division with a 9-1 record, 15-1 overall. James Monroe (Bronx, N.Y.) moves to the No. 5 spot after posting a 30-1 record. The Eagles defended its tournament title recently and gave Coach Mike Turo his 800th win at the school. No. 6 Brenham (Brenham, Tex.) continues on a roll posting a 26-1 record on the season. They are followed by Jackson (Mills Creek, Wash.) who remains perfect at 15-0. Bishop Carroll Catholic (Wichita, Kan.) is No. 11 and has posted a team batting average of .384 and team ERA of 2.08 for the season. No. 12 Riverside (Greer, S.C.)

Roth has a No. 14 Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, La.) remains the No. 1 team in Louisiana. They are 9-2 in their district, followed by Jesuit (New Orleans, La.), 7-3 in their district. They beat Rummel, 7-5 recently, but the two teams will met twice more to fight for the district title. No. 18 Homer (Homer, Mich.) is still undefeated at 11-0. They have outscored opponents 130-12 so far this season. Christian Brothers (Memphis, Tenn.) enters the poll at No. 19. They were undefeated for 16 games before suffering their only loss in the championship game of the USA Classic. They have beaten teams from four different states. Palm Beach Central (Wellington, Fla.) comes in at No. 20. The Broncos had a great showing at the Phil Nevin Classic in California recently where they suffered their only loss of the season to Esperanza, Calif., 6-5. They rebounded and finished the tournament with a 3-1 record. They are No. 1 in Florida’s 6A Division. No. 21 Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) leads its league with a 10-1 record and has posted a 14-1 record overall. No. 23 Northwest Rankin (Brandon, Miss.) has a team batting average of .345 for the season. Pitcher Todd McInnis is 8-1 with a 1.02 ERA and Jordan King is 7-1 with a 1.70 ERA. No. 24 Catalina Foothills (Tucson, Ariz.) is poised to win its league without a loss. No. 25 Elder (Elder, Ohio) is the No. 1 team in their division with a 15-2 record. Recently RHP Mike Nastold threw his first no-hitter in a 7-0 win over Bishop Brossart, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Nastold retired 21 batters in a row, striking out 10. No. 26 Bishop Kelley (Tulsa, Okla.) has a 30-2-1 record. Through the first 22 games of the season, they had a .366 team batting average and 1.85 team ERA. They are No. 1 in the 5A Division. Brownsburg, Ind. has fallen after suffering three early losses for the season. However, junior RHP Drew Storen has a 3-0 record with a save and has 29 strikeouts and no walks in 18 innings. DH Michael Bradburn is another bright spot with a .480 batting average, 4 doubles, one triple, one home run and 15 RBI. Dropped from the poll are Agoura, Calif. 13-6, Fla. Christian, 18-7, Fallbrook, Calif. 13-3, Jefferson, WV 18-3 and DH Conley, NC 13-4.
