College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Monday (June 11, 2012) FLORIDA NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL TUCSON, Ariz. — Florida (47-18) has been ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I baseball poll.The Gators, which beat N.C. State two straight to advance to their third consecutive College World Series, are 5-0 in the post-season and have outscored opponents, 41-14. Louisiana St., which captured the SEC regular-season title and was ranked No. 1 last week, was upset at home against Stony Brook. Poll Notes: Several teams which qualified for the College World Series are red-hot. Kent St. has won 22 of its last 23, UCLA 16 of 17, Stony Brook 28 of 31, and Arizona 13 of 15. Second ranked South Carolina will seek its third straight national championship after winning the Columbia Super Regional two straight over Oklahoma. The Gamecocks have won a record 21 straight NCAA tournament games entering the CWS. The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll.
