COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER
POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona State University is
No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I
baseball poll.
The Sun Devils, ranked first for the ninth
time this season by Collegiate Baseball, won two straight 12-inning games
over Arkansas in its Super Regional during the past weekend.
ASU is hitting .338 as a team and averaging
8.6 runs per game. The Sun Devils have belted 68 homers, 145 doubles and 37
triples. In addition, ASU has stolen 134 of 176 bases while limiting opponents
to only 44 stolen bases over 60 games. The pitching staff has a 3.14 ERA and has
fanned 537 batters and only walked 160.
The Collegiate
Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth
took place during the 1957 college baseball season.
