College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Monday (April 19, 2010) ARIZONA STATE NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona St. is ranked No. 1 for the sixth straight time in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's NCAA Division I baseball poll. The Sun Devils (31-3, 9-3 Pac-10 Conference, first place) were 3-0 last week as ASU beat Southern California three straight. Poll Notes: Several teams have been red hot lately, including Connecticut (15 in a row), Coastal Carolina (13), Texas (12), Arkansas (11) and Texas Christian (7). Six teams fell out of the top 30 this week, including Western Kentucky (1-4 last week), Virginia Tech. (2-2), Virginia Military Institute (1-3), Fresno St. (2-3), Washington St. (2-3) and S.E. Louisiana (3-2). New to the poll is Arizona (5 straight victories), Connecticut (15 consecutive wins), Rutgers (6 wins in a row), Stanford (5 in a row, including a 3-game sweep at Oregon St.), Oregon (won 2 of 3 at UCLA last weekend), Northwestern St. (won six in a row). The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season. (Top 30 Agate Follows)
