"LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S"
NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
 | RHP Greg Prenger, Ohio St.: Prenger
pitched what is believed to be the first perfect game in Ohio State's 120-year history
with 2-0 win over Oakland. He retired all 21 batters he faced in the 7-inning contest.
Prenger struck out one batter in the first, two in the third, two in the fifth and one in
the seventh. He had seven fly outs and eight ground or line outs to go with his six
strikeouts. Prenger missed all of last season after undergoing surgery on his right
shoulder during the summer of 2001.
|
 | LHP Scott Lewis, Ohio St.:
Lewis fanned 20 batters in nine innings as Ohio St. beat Iowa, 4-1. The 20 strikeouts tied
the school record held by Steve Arlin which he set in a 15-inning, 1-0 victory over
Washington St. in the 1965 College World Series. Lewis' previous strikeout high was 12
last season against Purdue.
|
 | RHP Kevin Slowey, Winthrop: Slowey
struck out a school-record 19 batters against New York Tech in a 9-5 Winthrop victory. He
gave up four earned runs in the third inning but gave up one hit over the final six
innings of the game. He has fanned 31 batters in his last 18 innings of work on the mound.
