College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) TEXAS NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL TUCSON, Ariz. The University of Texas (5-1) has been ranked No. 1 for the third straight time in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's NCAA Division I baseball poll. The defending national champion Longhorns, which were ranked No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball pre-season poll, have now been ranked at the top in the first two regular-season polls of the season. Texas has outscored opponents 52-23 in its first six games as the Longhorns have averaged 8.6 runs per game. Poll Notes: Three teams continue to be red-hot. Cal. St. Fullerton (6-0) is off to the best start in school history and have now swept 3-game series against Stanford and Fresno St. to kick off the season. Arizona State has rolled to a 14-1 record with its only setback being to Long Beach St. Florida Atlantic has raced to a 5-0 record with five straight wins over Bethune-Cookman. Of the top 30 teams this week, 15 have yet to start their season. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll.
