FLORIDA ST. NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. For the first time this season,
Florida State has been ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's NCAA
Division I baseball poll.
Stanford, which had been No. 1 the previous six polls,
fell to third after losing once against rival California. Clemson, unbeaten at 10-0,
jumped from third to second this week. Florida State has won eight in a row and captured
14 of its last 15 games.
POLL NOTES: Several other teams are
also on a roll. Arizona State has won seven straight, Houston seven in a row and South
Carolina five consecutive. Four teams fell out of the poll this week in Notre Dame (1-2
last week), Louisiana-Lafayette (1-3 last week), Arizona (0-3 last week) and Rutgers (1-2
last week).
The Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during
the 1957 college baseball season.

NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
 | RHP Mike Roga, Armstrong Atlantic
State: Roga hurled the ninth no-hitter in school history, tying a school record by
striking out 17 batters in Armstrong Atlantic State's 1-0 victory over Northwest Missouri
State. Roga walked only one batter in the game. Later in the week, he limited Southern
Illinois-Edwardsville to two hits and one run in six innings of work as he struck out six.
For the week, he struck out 23 batters in 15 innings of work and gave up only two hits.

 | RHP Billy Biggs, West Virginia: Biggs
pitched the sixth no-hitter in school history as he blanked Buffalo, 4-0. Biggs retired 27
out of 28 batters he faced with one player drawing a walk in the second inning. He also
tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts.

 | RHP Joseph Blanton, Kentucky: Blanton
struck out a career-high 16 batters and pitched the first complete game of the season for
Kentucky in a 3-2 win over Ball State.

 | SS John McCurdy, Maryland: McCurdy
hit six home runs in six games last week as he went 13-for-23 at the plate. In addition to
knocking in 15 runs, he cracked three doubles.

 | OF Mark Jurich, Louisville: Jurich was 6-for-12 at
the plate in three games as he belted five home runs and knocked in 10 runs. He also had
22 total bases. |
