CAL. ST. FULLERTON NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. For the first time this season,
Cal. St. Fullerton (38-11) has been ranked No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper
NCAA Division I baseball poll. The Titans, which have won 10 straight and 24 of their last
25 games, are first in the Big West Conference with an 11-1 record.
Notre Dame, ranked No. 1 the previous two weeks, slipped
to second after posting a 3-2 week with losses to Western Michigan and Connecticut. The
Irish beat Michigan and then Connecticut twice.
POLL NOTES: Several teams have been red hot. Tulane
continues to roll with a glistening 42-8 overall record. The Green Wave has now won 13
straight. Georgia has won 10 in a row and now leads the Southeastern Conference with an
18-9 league mark after Louisiana State dropped three straight at Arkansas over the past
weekend. Another hot team is East Carolina which has won 9 in a row. Several big jumps
took place in the poll this week. LSU, which dropped three straight at Arkansas, fell from
second to eighth. Stetson, ranked eighth last week, was swept at home by Central Florida
three straight and fell to 19th. Mississippi, a team ranked ninth last week, slipped to
20th after being swept three straight at Tennessee.
The Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during
the 1957 college baseball season.

NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
 | LHP Wally Vojacek,
Wisconsin-Parkside: Vojacek threw a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's. He
struck out five and walked two in the 7-inning ball game.

 | RHP Craig Whitten, East
Stroudsburg: Whitten hurled a no-hitter in a 10-0 win over New Jersey Institute of
Technology in a 7-inning contest. He recorded nine strikeouts and two walks. At one point,
he retired 10 consecutive batters.

 | P/OF Andrew See, Ohio: See
belted 6 home runs over a 5-game span as he went 11-for-24 at the plate with 16 RBI. As a
pitcher, he won both games of a doubleheader against Marshall in relief.

 | RHP Dewon Brazelton, Middle
Tennessee St.: Brazelton struck out a career-high 16 batters in a 5-1 win over Western
Kentucky. In the process, he pitched his eighth complete game of the season. He allowed
only three hits and walked one. Brazelton is now 11-1 on the season with a 1.25 ERA.

 | LHP David Boyza, Cleveland St.: Boyza struck out a
career-high 16 batters in a 7-inning game against Detroit in a 4-1 win. Boyza walked three
and gave up three hits. |
