GEORGIA TECH. NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. Georgia Tech. (12-2) has been
ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll.
The Yellow Jackets, which have won 11 of their last 12
games, have only lost two games this season by one run. Georgia Tech continues to light up
the scoreboard offensively, batting .384 as a team and averaging 12.6 runs per game. Four
Tech regulars are batting over .400.
POLL NOTES: Several other ball clubs have been hot.
Miami (Fla.) and Florida St. have each won six straight games. Mississippi (12-3), ranked
29th this week, is off to its best 15-game start since the 1968 season. Rice (15-3) is off
to its best start since going 20-3 to begin the 1999 season. The Owls have a team ERA of
1.87. Nebraska (9-3) swept Texas Tech in Lubbock, Tex. over the past weekend, an
accomplishment that hasn't been done in the past 11 seasons to the Red Raiders at home.
The Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during
the 1957 college baseball season.

NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
 | RHP Brandon Roznovsky, St. Mary's
(Tex.): Roznovsky hurled a 7-inning no-hitter against Tarleton State. He struck out 9
and did not allow a runner to reach second base. The no-hitter was the 10th thrown by St.
Mary's pitchers under the direction of pitching coach John Maley. Maley, who has been with
the Rattlers for 10 years, has also seen his hurlers throw 22 1-hitters.

 | RHP Kirk Saarloos, Cal. St.
Fullerton: Saarloos allowed just one hit and struck out 12 batters in eight innings of
work at the Kia Baseball Bash over the past weekend. He came on in relief in the Titans'
3-1 win over Wichita State and retired the first 12 batters he faced before allowing a
single. Saarloos tied a career high by striking out 11 of the 22 batters he faced. He also
pitched a scoreless ninth inning against Tennessee. The weekend performances pushes
Saarloos' consecutive scoreless innings streak to 29.

 | RHP Dewon Brazelton, Middle
Tennessee St.: Brazelton struck out a career-high 14 batters in a 9-inning complete
game against Memphis. He allowed only two hits and walked one while allowing two unearned
runs in an 8-2 win. Brazelton is 3-0 on the year with a 0.00 ERA.

 | 1B Nick Swisher, Ohio St.: In four games at the
Kennel Club Classic, Swisher belted 4 home runs and a double as he knocked in 11 runs and
went 7-for-14 at the plate. During a 6-hour stretch during the tournament, he went
6-for-10 with 4 home runs and 9 RBI in a doubleheader against Stetson and North Florida.
Against Stetson, he hit a solo shot and a grand slam. Then against North Florida, he
cracked a solo home run and added a 3-run blast. |
