STANFORD NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. Stanford University (21-5) has been
ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I baseball
poll after winning 19 of its last 21 games, including seven straight. The Cardinal swept a
3-game series against Washington over the past weekend. Rice slipped to second after
posting a 4-1 week with a win over Baylor, a 3-game sweep of Fresno St. and a loss to
Houston.
POLL NOTES: Several teams have been
red-hot. Ohio St. has won 13 straight, Tennessee 14 of its last 15, South Alabama 14 in a
row and The Citadel 14 of its last 15. Mississippi (21-6-1) has raced to a 7-2 record in
the rugged Southeastern Conference and has swept back-to-back SEC series against Auburn
and Alabama the last two weekends. It marks the first back-to-back SEC series sweeps for
Ole Miss since 1972.
The Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during
the 1957 college baseball season.

 | RHP Chris Bradshaw, Texas
Christian: Bradshaw hurled TCU's second 9-inning no-hitter in history to lead the
Frogs to a 9-0 win over Hawaii-Hilo. He allowed only three base runners in the game,
including two in the ninth. At one point in the game, he retired 20 consecutive hitters.
He struck out 10 and walked none.

 | RHP Mark Prior, Southern
California: Prior struck out a career-high 15 University of Arizona batters in an 8-0
shutout. He scattered three hits and did not allow a walk. It marked his second
consecutive complete game as he pitched only two batters over the minimum in the 9-inning
contest. In his last four starts, he has struck out 52 batters with only one walk over 33
1/3 innings.

 | RHP Scott Roehl, Arkansas: Roehl
pitched a 9-inning no-hitter against Kansas State in a 2-0 victory. He struck out 5 and
walked two. It marked the 11th no-hitter in Arkansas history and the first since the 1996
season.

 | SS Jason Helps, Central Michigan: Helps had an
amazing week as he belted 5 home runs in 7 games and knocked in 15 runs. He also scored 9
runs and cracked 2 doubles and 1 triple for good measure. In 40 chances in the field, he
had no errors. |
