Wichita St. (2-3), Wake Forest (3-2), Nevada (0-3) and New Orleans (1-3) dropped out. Texas has now won nine in a row after a 3-game sweep of Oklahoma State over the past weekend. Creighton won three of four games against Wichita St., marking the first time since 1992 that the Bluejays have won the regular-season series. The only loss by Creighton to the Shockers was a 12 inning setback, 8-7. Cal. St. Fullerton swept a 3-game series at Nevada to become the only team in the last seven years to accomplish the feat. The Titans also swept Nevada in 1997 at Peccole Park. Florida St. shut out Maryland three straight games over the past weekend. The last time FSU blanked an opponent in all three games of a 3-game series was against Lafayette in 1971. Maryland had never been shut out in three consecutive games before this past weekend. Louisiana St. has now won seven of its last eight games. The "upside down" Houston Cougars are 12-2 on the road this season but only 8-7 when playing at home. In fact, Houston has won 11 consecutive road games dating back to Feb. 25. Houston lost two of three at home this past weekend to Tulane. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season. (Top 30 Agate Follows)
