LOUISIANA ST. NO. 1 IN FINAL 2009 COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — Louisiana St. (56-17), fresh from winning the College World Series with an 11-4 win over Texas, finished as the No. 1 team in the land in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's final NCAA Division I baseball poll of 2009.

The Tigers were ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball's pre-season poll released last December and finished the season on top as LSU won two of three against the Longhorns in the championship series in capturing the sixth national baseball title in school history.

The Tigers finished the season winning 15 of their last 16 games and didn't commit an error in five of the six games they played at the College World Series.

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.
