"LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S" NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
P/OF John Lunardi, Susquehanna: Lunardi pitched the 14th perfect game in NCAA Division III history during a 9-0, 7-inning win over Drew. Lunardi needed only 82 pitches as he struck out seven batters. It marked the first perfect game, or no-hitter for that matter, that he has ever thrown. But he wasn't done. The next day, he hit a pair of home runs to lead Susquehanna to a 12-8 win over Drew. He was 3-for-4 on the day with 3 RBIs.
LHP Cody Wheeler, Coastal Carolina: Wheeler recorded the first no-hitter since 2005 for Coastal Carolina during a 4-0 win over Hawaii. He struck out 10 batters and registered a 9-inning complete game with three walks.
1B Rich Poythress, Georgia: Poythress belted 5 home runs and knocked in 12 runs for the Bulldogs over four games last week. In his first nine plate appearances against Tennessee in a 3-game series, he was 6-for-6 with 4 home runs, 2 doubles and 3 walks.
