"LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S" NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OF Brad Bauder, Virginia Tech.: Bauder went 8-for-8 with 4 home runs, 2 singles, a double and a triple in one game against Georgetown as the Hokies registered a 35-4 win. He drove in 14 runs and scored 7 runs, capping his record-breaking performance with a grand slam in the eighth inning. He set new single-game marks for hits, RBIs and total bases (23) and tied records for runs scored and home runs. If that wasn't enough, he hit for the cycle during his outing.
1B Bill Peavey, Southern California: Peavey had a sensational week for the Trojans as he went 9-for-11 with 3 homers, 3 doubles, 4 walks and 10 RBI in a 3-game series against Washington St. In fact, he was so good that in the second game against WSU, he hit a solo home run in the ninth inning that landed on the putting green on a golf course located outside of Bailey-Brayton Field. When a team manager from WSU went to retrieve the ball, golfers showed him that Peavey's ball actually landed in a hole on the putting green.
RHP/C/1B Ben Fritz, Fresno St.: Fritz struck out a career-high 15 batters against Nevada and allowed only three hits in a 1-0, 9-inning win. At the plate, he hit .417 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored in the series.
