- TUCSON, Ariz. The 2010 Louisville
Slugger Freshmen All-Americans feature a wealth of baseball talent.

- The team is headed by Collegiate
Baseballs Freshman Pitcher of The Year LHP Matt Purke (Texas Christian,
13-0, 3.40 ERA, 122 strikeouts, 27 walks) and Freshman Player of The Year OF
Jeremy Baltz (St. Johns, .396, 24 HR, 16 2B, 85 RBIs). Here is a rundown on
the 2010 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans as chosen by
Collegiate Baseball.

- Starting Pitchers
- LHP Matt Purke, Texas Christian
Collegiate Baseballs national Freshman Pitcher of The Year was
special in 2010. Purke posted a 13-0 record, 3.40 ERA and struck out 122
batters with only 27 walks. He was also named Freshman of The Year in the
Mountain West Conference and was a first team Mountain West selection. Purke
was a first round pick by the Texas Rangers in 2009 (14th pick
overall) and reportedly turned down $4 million to play for TCU.

- RHP Kurt Heyer, Arizona A first
team All-Pac-10 selection, Heyer put up tremendous numbers as Arizonas ace
pitcher. He struck out 104 batters and walked 25 as he posted a 6-4 record
and 3.38 ERA up to regional competition.

- LHP Justin Jones, California
Another first team All-Pac-10 pick, Jones posted a 10-5 record and 3.77 ERA
up to regional games. He fanned 73 batters and walked 27 with two complete
games.

- RHP Dylan Floro, Cal. St. Fullerton
A second team Big West Conference selection and Freshman Pitcher of The
Year in the league, Floro posted a 7-1 record and 3.08 ERA. He fanned 65
batters and walked only 10 over 84 2/3 innings.

- LHP Dietrich Enns, Central Michigan
The Freshman Player of The Year in the Mid-American Conference and a
first team pick in the league, Enns posted a 6-0 record and 1.37 ERA.

- RHP Hudson Randall, Florida A
member of the All-Freshmen team in the SEC, Randall was 7-3 with a 2.90 ERA.
He struck out 60 batters with 19 walks.

- LHP Jordan Hymel, Southeastern
Louisiana Hymel posted a 7-1 record and 4.83 ERA with 33 strikeouts.

- RHP Ben Nelson, Navy A second
team Patriot League pick, Nelson posted a 4-3 record and 2.59 ERA. He threw
two complete games and recorded one save with 34 strikeouts.
RHP Alex Alemann, St. Louis
Alemann was Rookie of The Year in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 9-6 record,
4.71 ERA, 72 strikeouts and 22 walks. He also threw 6 complete games.
- RHP Corey Roberts, N.C. Charlotte
Named to the All-Rookie Team in the Atlantic 10 Conference, Roberts
posted a 6-2 record and 3.39 ERA with 74 strikeouts.

- RHP Kyle Hansen, St. Johns A
third team Big East Conference selection, Hansen posted a 5-1 record, 4.57
ERA and fanned 42 batters.

- RHP Michael Wacha, Texas A&M An
Honorable Mention Big 12 pick, Wacha posted a 7-2 record, 2.36 ERA and
fanned 85 batters with 18 walks.

- RHP Tom Jameson, Nevada Jameson
posted a 6-1 record and 3.84 ERA with 2 saves and 30 strikeouts in 65 2/3
innings of work.

- Relief Pitchers
- Tyler Gebler, Rutgers Gebler
saved 12 games for Rutgers and posted a 1.75 ERA in 28 appearances.

- Brady Rodgers, Arizona St. An
Honorable Mention Pac-10 selection, Rodgers posted a 4-3 record and 1.96 ERA
for the Sun Devils. He also fanned 66 batters with 11 walks.

- Brett Huber, Mississippi A
second team Southeastern Conference pick, Huber recorded 12 saves, a 2.54
ERA with 54 strikeouts and 19 walks.

- Ryan Connolly, Coastal Carolina
A second team Big South Conference selection, Connolly was 3-0 with a 1.93
ERA and 45 strikeouts.

- Joe Rogers, Central Florida
Named to the All-Freshmen team in Conference USA, Rogers posted 8 saves, 4-2
record and 4.50 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 17 walks in 48 innings.

- E.J. Encinosa, Miami, Fla. In 28
appearances, Encinosa has a glistening 1.48 ERA for the Hurricanes. He had
61 strikeouts and 21 walks.

- Lex Rutledge, Samford A second
team Southern Conference pick and a member of the All-Freshmen Team in the
league, Rutledge was 4-0 with 8 saves and 1.21 ERA. He also fanned 48
batters with 15 walks.

- Matt Price, South Carolina A
second team SEC pick and member of the All-Freshman SEC team, Price recorded
7 saves, a 3-1 record and 2.83 ERA. He also fanned 62 batters and walked 17.

- Pat Christensen, La Salle Named
Rookie of The Year in the Atlantic 10, Christensen posted 11 saves with a
3.99 ERA. He fanned 55 batters and walked 19.

- Shae Simmons, S.E. Missouri A
first team Ohio Valley selection and Rookie of The Year in the league,
Simmons recorded 5 saves, 3-3 record and 3.20 ERA. He also had 43
strikeouts.

- Mitch Patito, U.C. Riverside In
21 appearances, Patito recorded a 1.33 ERA and 3-0 record with 3 saves.

- Andrew Strenge, Cincinnati
Strenge posted a 7-1 record and 1.73 ERA with 38 strikeouts over 14
appearances.

- Chris ODowd, Dartmouth Named
Co-Rookie of The Year in the Ivy League, ODowd hit .384 with 6 homers, 12
doubles and 26 RBIs.

- Duncan McAlpine, Dallas Baptist
McAlpine belted 13 homers and 11 doubles during the past season and knocked
in 51 runs.

- Kevin Plawecki, Purdue Named to
the All-Freshmen team in the Big Ten Conference, Plawecki hit .343 with 8
homers, 12 doubles and 53 RBIs.

- Ryan Breen, Central Florida
Breen hit .348 with 5 homers, 7 doubles and 25 RBIs over 164 at bats. He
also swiped 11 of 14 bases.

- Ronnie Freeman, Kennesaw St. A
second team Atlantic Sun selection and All-Freshmen pick in the league,
Freeman led Kennesaw St. with a .365 batting average. He also hit 9 homers,
8 doubles and knocked in 47 runs.

- Barrett Barnes, Texas Tech. A
second team Big 12 Conference selection and Freshman of The Year in the
league, Barnes hit .341 with 14 homers, 19 doubles and 53 RBIs. In addition,
he stole 12 of 15 bases.

- Anthony Hajjar, Fairfield Named
Rookie of The Year in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Hajjar hit
.380 with 7 homers, 14 doubles and 46 RBIs.

- Kelvin Freeman, North Carolina A&T
Named Rookie of The Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Freeman
hit .405 with 6 homers, 7 doubles and 37 RBIs.

- Malcolm Tate, Jackson St. Tate
was Freshman of The Year in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as he
collected 10 doubles, 46 hits and knocked in 32 runs.

- Matt Conway, Wake Forest Conway
hit .382 with 6 homers, 18 doubles and 32 RBIs. He also had an 18-game
hitting streak during the season.

- Max Muncy, Baylor Muncy hit .301
with 11 homers, 13 doubles and 49 RBIs.

- Johnny Coy, Wichita St. An
Honorable Mention Missouri Valley Conference selection, Coy hit .331 with 7
homers, 16 doubles and 32 RBI.

- Cory Spangenberg, Virginia Military
Institute Named Freshman of The Year in the Big South and a second
team Big South pick, Spangenberg hit .370 with 14 doubles, 11 homers and 49
RBIs. He also swiped 24 of 29 bases and scored 62 runs.

- Anthony Gomez, Vanderbilt A
first team Southeastern Conference selection and All-Freshmen SEC pick,
Gomez hit .388 with 8 doubles, 2 homers and 28 RBIs this season. He also
swiped 7 of 10 bases and scored 33 runs.

- Brian Bullard, Albany A second
team America East Conference pick and named to the All-Rookie team in the
league, Bullard hit .326 with 4 homers, 9 doubles and 32 RBIs. He also
swiped 8 bases.

- Ryan Jones, Michigan St. Named
Freshman of The Year in the Big Ten Conference, Jones hit .380 with 12
doubles and 37 RBI. He also swiped 9 bases.

- Steve Nyisztor, Rutgers A second
team Big East selection, Nyisztor hit .410 with 17 doubles and 51 RBIs. He
also swiped 11 of 14 bases.

- D.J. Long, Delaware Named to the
All-Rookie team in the Colonial Athletic Association, Long hit .350 with 16
doubles and 35 RBIs.
Will Muzika, Furman Named Freshman of
The Year in the Southern Conference, Muzika hit .329 with 14 homers, 6 doubles
and 55 RBIs.
- Jamodrick McGruder, Texas Tech.
An honorable mention Big 12 selection, McGruder stole 23 of 27 bases and hit
.322 with 7 homers, 6 doubles and 32 RBIs.

- Michael Ratterree, Rice Named to
the All-Freshmen team in Conference USA, Ratterree hit 10 homers, 19 doubles
and knocked in 62 runs as ht hit .284.

- Austin Maddox, Florida A second
team SEC pick and Freshman of The Year in the SEC, Maddox hit .339 with 17
homers, 15 doubles and 66 RBIs. He also scored 44 runs.

- Chris Taladay, Central Florida
Named Freshman of The Year in Conference USA, Taladay hit .352 with 19
doubles, 8 homers and 47 RBIs.

- Kenny Diekroeger, Stanford A
first team Pac-10 selection and Freshman of The Year in the league,
Diekroeger led the Cardinal with a .351 batting average, 73 hits and 22
multi-hit games. He ranked second on the squad with 39 RBIs and produced a
23-game hitting streak.

- Ryan Dalton, Texas-San Antonio
Named Freshman of The Year in the Southland Conference, Dalton hit 17
homers, 9 doubles and knocked in 51 runs while hitting .305.

- Tony Renda, California A first
team Pac-10 selection, Renda hit .373 with 21 doubles, 3 homers and 37 RBI.
He also swiped 13 of 15 bases.

- Andrew Barna, Davidson Named to
the All-Freshmen team in the Southern Conference, Barna hit .329 with 7
homers, 17 doubles and 52 RBI.

- Micah Johnson, Indiana Johnson
hit .312 with 11 homers, 15 doubles and 42 RBIs.

- Jacob Lamb, Washington Lamb hit
.347 with 4 homers, 14 doubles and 32 RBIs.

- Cameron Perkins, Purdue Perkins
hit .338 with 8 homers, 17 doubles and 34 RBIs. He also swiped 10 of 12
bases.

- Mike Thompson, Binghamton A
second team America East selection and a member of the All-Rookie team,
Thompson hit .365 with 10 doubles and 19 RBIs.

- Billy Urban, St. Bonaventure
Urban was the Rookie of The Year in the Atlantic 10 Conference and hit .337
with 9 doubles, 30 runs and 44 RBI.

- Eric Stamets, Evansville A first
team Missouri Valley selection and Freshman Player of The Year in the
league, Stamets swiped 43 bases and was part of 51 double plays on defense.
He hit .321 with 15 doubles, 4 homers and 27 RBIs as he scored 57 runs.

- Deven Marrero, Arizona St.
Marrero hit .407 with 4 homers, 10 doubles and 30 RBIs. He also was a
perfect 10 for 10 in stolen bases.

- Austin Elkins, Dallas Baptist
Elkins hit .341 with 8 homers, 15 doubles and 39 RBIs.

- Justin Roland, Charlotte Named
Rookie of The Year in the Atlantic 10, Roland hit .308 with 4 doubles and 40
RBIs. He also scored 47 runs.

- Kyle Farmer, Georgia Farmer hit
.340 with 16 doubles, 3 homers and 25 RBIs.

- Nolan Fontana, Florida Named a
second team SEC selection and a member of the All-Freshmen SEC team, Fontana
has an exceptional glove. He also hit 13 doubles and 2 homers on offense
while collecting 20 RBIs.

- Ryan Lashley, Stetson A member
of the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team, Lashley hit .337 with 10 homers, 17
doubles and 42 RBIs.

- Outfielders
- Jeremy Baltz, St. Johns
Collegiate Baseballs National Freshman Player of The Year recorded one
of the finest offensive years by a freshman in history. Baltz, a first team
Big East pick and Rookie of the Year in the league, hit .396 with 24 homers,
16 doubles and 85 RBIs. He also scored 64 runs.

- Kevin Brown, Bryant Named Rookie
of The Year in the Northeast Conference and a second team league selection,
Brown hit .355 with 6 homers, 23 doubles and 40 RBIs. He also scored 52 runs
and stole 6 bases.

- Dan Gulbransen, Jacksonville A
first team Atlantic Sun selection and Freshman of the Year in the league,
Gulbransen hit .391 with 8 homers, 14 doubles and 46 RBIs.

- Dario Pizzano, Columbia Named
Co-Rookie of The Year in the Ivy League, Pizzano hit .374 with 12 homers.

Named Freshman of The Year in the Sun Belt, Henry hit .311 with 11

Named Freshman of The Year in the West Coast Conference, Lowenstein hit
.344 with 15 doubles and 30 RBIs.

Mention pick by the Big 12 Conference, White hit .318 with 14 homers, 12
doubles and 39 RBIs.

- Mitch Haniger, Cal Poly Named
Big West Freshman Player of The Year, Haniger had a 14-game hitting streak.
He hit .326 on the season with 7 homers, 15 doubles and 46 RBIs.

- Preston Beck, Texas-Arlington
Beck posted a 17-game hitting streak and recorded 82 hits while hitting
.352. He also compiled 10 doubles and 44 RBIs.

- Patrick Biondi, Michigan Named
to the All-Freshmen team in the Big Ten, Biondi swiped 29 of 35 bases. He
also hit .313 with 11 doubles and 30 RBIs.

- Garrett Custons, Air Force
Custons hit .328 with 18 doubles, 9 homers and 64 RBIs. He also swiped 16 of
21 bases.

- Brian Goodwin, North Carolina
Goodwin collected 12 doubles, 7 homers and 61 RBIs as he hit .293.

- Designated Hitters
- Carlos Lopez, Cal. St. Fullerton
A second team Big West selection, Lopez hit .372 with 16 doubles, 7 homers
and 50 RBIs. He only struck out 17 times in 226 at bats and has been the
Titans No. 3 hitter all season long. He was challenging Mark Kotsays
freshman batting average record (.372 in 1994) and was just two hits shy of
the schools freshman hits record (86) and 4 RBI away from the schools
freshman RBI record (54). He has 25 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games.
He also had a 17-game hitting streak during the season.

Named to the All-Freshmen team in the Atlantic Sun, Walker hit .313 with 16
homers, 14 doubles and 58 RBIs.

- Hunter Ridge, N.C. Wilmington A
third team Colonial Athletic Association selection and member of the
All-Rookie team in the league, Ridge hit .348 with 5 homers, 17 doubles and
49 RBIs.

- William Carmona, Stony Brook A
first team America East Selection and Rookie of The Year in the league,
Carmona led the team with a .387 batting average. He also hit 6 homers, 12
doubles and 48 RBIs.

- John Haberman, Pacific Haberman
hit .321 with 13 doubles and 30 RBIs.

- Mark Shannon, Northern Colorado
A first team pick in the Great West Conference and Newcomer of The Year,
Shannon posted a 4-2 record, 5.12 ERA and hit .314 with 6 doubles, 3 homers
and collected 25 RBIs.

- Brian Johnson, Florida A member
of the All-Freshmen SEC team, Johnson hit .385 and posted a 5-4 record and
4.41 ERA.

- Zack Jones, San Jose St.
Freshman of The Year in the Western Athletic Conference, Jones posted a 5-1
record and 3.73 ERA as a pitcher. On offense, he hit .310 with 19 RBIs.

- Anthony Montefusco, George Mason
A second team Colonial Athletic Association pick and Rookie of The Year in
the league, Montefusco was 3-1 with 4 saves and a 1.23 ERA as a pitcher. On
offense, he hit .317 with 13 RBIs.

Honorable Mention selection by the Pac-10, Boyd posted a 7-1 record and 1.90
ERA as a pitcher. On offense, he hit .271 with 6 doubles, 3 homers and 19
