Coaches and baseball people place way too much value on the 90+ mph pitcher. I would rather have a kid with an 80mph fastball who is willing to learn to change speed and develop an array of pitches. Unfortunately, college and pro baseball people won’t look at any young kid who throws 80 mph regardless of his win-loss record, ERA, or stats.

2. Weight training is bad for pitchers, period. The article is right, there is definitely a correlation between the multitude of injuries to pitchers and the rise of weight training in baseball.
